No English village is complete without it’s cricket club and Edwinstowe is no exception. Being located in the heart of Sherwood Forest, it’s address being The Forest Corner, and at the centre of the Robin Hood legend ensures this is an idyllic location for playing and watching cricket. There is no thought that the Club was started by the village’s most famous resident Robin Hood, but there are records which indicate cricket being played on the same field for over 150 years.
Due to the expansion of the tourist industry in the area the ground is now located in the Sherwood Forest Country Park which ensures all the necessary facilities of regular bus services, car parking etc are readily available. Add to this the attractions of the forest walks, visitors centre, craft centre, youth hostel, fun fair and village amenities only a short walk from the pavilion makes this an ideal location. It is no wonder that it has been described as “one of the most attractive grounds in the county”.
